Interprofessional Education Week 2008

St. Joseph's Health Centre celebrated Interprofessional Education Week from October 27 to 31, 2008.
We kicked off Interprofessional Education Week with a two page insert into our community newspapers. This educational piece helps explain what Interprofessional Education is at St. Joseph's and how we put it into practice each and every day as we Put Patients First.
St. Joseph's Health Centre also produced a special edition of our Connections Newsletter celebrating this week.
On Tuesday October 28, we welcomed Breakfast Television's Jennifer Valentyne and the Live Eye Crew to our interactive Interprofessional Skills Fair!

On Wednesday October 29, St. Joseph's hosted an Interprofessional Breakfast Forum with keynote speakers:
Dr. Ivy Oandasan, Director, Office of Interprofessional Education, University of Toronto, discussing advancing Interprofessional Education Curriculum for 2009 at the University of Toronto
Elizabeth McLaney, Manager of Interprofessional Education and Keith Adamson, Manager of Interprofessional Practice, both with St. Joseph's, will report on how the Health Centre is applying the University of Toronto's model of Interprofessional Education and what it means for our patients.
This special Breakfast Forum recognized the award recipients of the TD Learning is for Life Scholarship. Designed to support the education needs of regulated health care professional staff, this TD Bank Financial Group sponsored scholarship recognizes the pursuit of excellence at St. Joseph's Health Centre and pledges $250,000 over five years ($50,000 per year) beginning in 2006. Individual scholarships will range from $1000 - $5000 per year.
