St. Joseph’s Health Centre will be hosting the 56th annual Clinical Day on Friday, November 4, 2011.
The Health Centre is pleased to announce that Dr. Andrew McCallum, FRCPC the Chief Coroner of Ontario will be this year's James Starr Simpson Memorial Lecture Series keynote speaker for Clinical Day.
Keynote address: Learning from Coroner’s Investigation in Health Care Institutions. Using cases investigated by the Ontario Office of the Chief Coroner, this presentation will illustrate how the coroner can assist in clarifying systemic safety issues. The role and scope of the coroner will be covered as will Regional Coroner Reviews and Inquests.
Clinical Day attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from a number of
St. Joseph’s staff including:
- Dr. Matthew Heffer, Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, will present on “Sleep Apnea and Cardiovascular Disease.”
- Dr. Hani Akoury, Women’s, Children’s & Family Health, will speak about “Preterm Delivery, what is new?”
Back by popular demand for the second year in a row, St. Joseph’s Clinical Pathology Conference Rounds, featuring physicians from diverse clinical areas in the Health Centre, who will discuss a challenging clinical case. Scientific abstracts will also be presented, along with a short presentation of our medical staff teaching and research awards.
