The Newcomers' Virtual Advisory Group was formed in 2009 and falls under the auspices of the Emergency & Critical Care Program in addition to receiving coordinating and facilitation support from the Patient, Family and Community Engagement (PF&CE).

Being different from the Panels, the Newcomers Advisory Group meets on an as need basis, focusing on specific projects. The group has recently completed their first project, the establishment of the Emergency Department Navigational Videos.

The purpose of the Emergency Department Navigational Videos is to better meet the needs of newcomers living in the Health Centre's communities by helping to foster a 'newcomer friendly experience' in accessing St. Joseph's Emergency Department.

The videos are available in the five top local languages, including Cantonese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, and Tibetan, as well as English. To view the video in the language of your choice, please click on one of the following links:
