Patient Care Story - Mary Poppe

Mary Poppe entered the Emergency Department at St. Joseph's Health Centre with a wrist fracture anticipating long waits and crowded waiting rooms. She was pleasantly surprised by her experience.

"I felt incredibly privileged to be in the care of the highly skilled and experienced physicians, Dr. Kuld and Dr. Duic. What impressed me was their capacity to be able to balance all of these patients concurrently. The attending physician did it all with such ease and attentiveness - even though there were twenty other patients receiving medical care."

St. Joe's is Mary's community hospital. She felt compelled to write in and acknowledge the exceptional professionalism that she encountered throughout the Health Centre. Mary explained that it wasn't just her initial assessment and treatment that provided her with such a great experience. Each step of the way the physicians were very explanatory of the procedures she would be having from the x-rays and medications to the reduction.

"I was thrilled with how seamless everything was in the way of the referral to the fracture clinic, the quick follow up, to the appointments with the physiotherapy department."

Following physiotherapy Mary now has exceptional range of motion, which she credits to the superior care that she received from her physiotherapist, Melanie.

"The professionalism and motivation that she lent was amazing and her level of persistence to make sure that when I finished that I did not have any residual difficulties."
