In accordance with Ontario accountability objectives, the Health Centre signed a two-year Accountability Agreement with the Government of Ontario for fiscal years 2008 and 2009.

This Accountability Agreement is designed to:

  • Link accountability with stable and predictable funding
  • Ensure a sustainable financial footing for hospitals
  • Align the planning and allocations cycle with planning and budgeting in the hospital sector
  • Support continuous performance improvement
  • Improve system integration
  • Create a framework for an effective and evolving long-term accountability relationship based on capacity and changing health care needs, and
  • Consolidate service agreements already in place

We have committed ourselves to meeting six performance standards.

Performance Indicators Standards
Relative acute length of stay 0.9 - 1.1
Relative total acute length of stay 0.9 - 1.2
Relative risk of readmission rate to own facility <1.3
Current ratio 0.8 - 2.0
Percent full-time nurses 70%
Year end total margin 0.0%

The Senior Management team undertakes a detailed annual review of the operational and financial performance of St. Joseph's Health Centre.
